Tanaka Farm - ロサンゼルス近郊の農園を訪れる

昨年アメリカに越して間もなくその存在を知り、しかしながら今日まで足を運ばなかった「田中農園」様を訪れました。

場所は、ロサンゼルス市内から車で1時間弱のアーバインという街の外れにあります。1940年から営まれており、高品質の農作物と子どもたちへの教育プログラムに力を入れておられるようです。

子どものいないわたしがなぜここに興味があるかと申しますと、㈱サンリオと2017年に提携を結ばれ、ハローキティなどがマスコットとして農園を彩っています。

ハローキティはじめサンリオは別段好きではないのですが、日本の文化がアメリカに息づいているのを見るのはいい機会でした。日本人来園者が多かったですが、それでも白人系とメキシコ系もちらほら見受けられました。

今回は流し見るだけでしたが、次回友だちが来た時の訪問場所候補のひとつとして考えております。

Today I visited "Tanaka Farms" which I got to know as soon as I moved in here last year, yet I had had no visit.  Its location is in Irvine, approximately a bit less than 1 hour drive from Los Angeles City.  It has run since 1940, focusing on high quality crops and educational programs for children.  

I have no kids, but I am interested in this farm because they have partnerships with Sanrio Co., Ltd. starting in 2017, getting them Sanrio characters as mascots.  It is good to know that Japanese culture cherishes in foreign lands.  Majority of visitors is Japanese, yet there were some local visitors...

This time I did not stay for long time, but next time when my friends visit here, this is definitely one of options that I can bring them in.
